Restore your site from a backup (same URL)
Use Restore to same URL when this WordPress install is still at the same address (e.g. www.example.com → www.example.com) and you need to roll back to a known-good backup.
Read WP Restore overview first for plan and vault key requirements.
Before you start
- Confirm you have an Essential or Pro backup plan.
- Locate your Master Vault Key (Recovery Sheet).
- Optional but recommended: note what changed since the backup — you will lose newer content after restore.
Steps
- Open MigraSync → WP Restore.
- Where are you restoring to? — choose Restore to same URL.
- Click Continue to backups.
- Select backup point — pick date/time from Available backups. Click Refresh list if a recent backup is missing.
- What to restore — keep Database (required); add Media / Plugins / Themes if needed.
- Master Vault Key — enter the key from backup creation. Wrong key = cannot decrypt.
- Click Start restore → accept data processing → Confirm site restore.
- Check consent: “I understand this replaces my current site data.” → Start disaster recovery.
While it runs
- Wizard shows Restore in progress — you may close the tab; work continues on the server.
- When finished: Restore complete → Reload site.
After restore
- Log in to WordPress and spot-check pages, menus, and media.
- Visit Settings → Permalinks and click Save (flushes rewrite rules).
- Clear any host or CDN cache.
- Re-test forms, checkout, or membership plugins if applicable.
